Responsibilities
- Provide professional nursing care to patients across the age spectrum within a Med Surg unit.
- Assess patient needs, problems, and concerns; perform ongoing data collection across physiologic, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and cognitive domains.
- Develop and document a goal-directed plan of care; involve patient and family in planning, education, and decision-making; adjust care plans as needed.
- Implement care safely and thoroughly; delegate appropriately and coordinate duties of the health care team; document clearly in the electronic medical record system.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers about the plan of care; support patient advocacy and family involvement; participate in nursing leadership activities and unit training as requested.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and standards; participate in quality improvement and, when requested, nursing research activities.
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license (California) or state-appropriate licensure for practice in the assignment location.
- Med Surg nursing experience or demonstrated competence in a medical-surgical setting (preferred for this assignment).
- Ability to work nights on a 3x12-hour schedule; comfortable caring for patients across various ages in a hospital environment.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and clinical documentation.
- Compliance with vaccination requirements; exemptions may apply where allowed by policy.
- Willingness to adhere to organizational policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., CMS, TJC).
