Responsibilities
- Assess, implement, monitor, and document prescribed respiratory therapies for neonatal, pediatric, and adult patients.
- Manage ventilator care and ABG interpretation; adjust settings per protocol and physician orders.
- Perform airway clearance techniques, oxygen therapy, medications administration, and humidification as directed.
- Monitor patient response, document in the electronic medical record, and communicate changes to the care team.
- Maintain and calibrate respiratory therapy equipment; ensure accuracy of medication administration within unit protocols.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, participate in rounds, and support NICU/ICU/ED workflows as needed.
Requirements
- Active Vermont state license as a respiratory care practitioner.
- NBRC certification or registration, or eligibility to take NBRC written exam; NBRC verification required.
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and PALS current; NRP required upon submission.
- NICU experience within the last year; ICU/ED experience on the unit is preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience; minimum 2 years in respiratory care specialty.
- Proficiency with Epic for documentation; ability to work in a fast-paced hospital environment.
- Willingness to work 12-hour shifts and to align with unit needs and patient care requirements.
