This travel assignment targets a dedicated Sterile Processing professional to support perioperative services in a short-term acute care setting. The role emphasizes instrument processing, decontamination, sterilization, and collaboration with the surgical team under supervision to ensure instruments meet safety and readiness standards for patient care.

Responsibilities
- Decontaminate and process surgical and hospital instruments, assemble instrument sets and trays, and verify counts to maintain instrument integrity.
- Sterilize instruments, trays, basins, and related equipment using validated exposure and dry times; prepare instruments for immediate use when needed.
- Maintain a clean, orderly department environment; perform routine cleaning of autoclaves and high-disinfection equipment; participate in weekly autoclave maintenance.
- Assist with room turnover, terminal cleaning of operating suites, and daily duties as assigned; help with picking supplies/instruments for upcoming cases.
- Conduct daily diagnostic testing on sterilizing equipment, including test packs and biological indicators; evaluate instruments for function and safety after reprocessing.
- Provide reprocessing services for instruments used across ancillary departments; track loaner instruments and logs; maintain Biological Incubator logs and review biological results.
- Collaborate with perioperative team, nurses, and other departments; follow established protocols under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and perioperative services leadership.

Requirements
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent preferred
- Experience: At least two years of recent experience in sterile processing or a related field
- Certifications: Sterile Processing Technician certification preferred; current BLS certification
- Licensure: Current nursing license per state of assignment
- Additional: Ability to work in a hospital-based sterile processing environment and follow established safety and quality procedures
