Responsibilities
- Assess and document the appropriateness of prescribed respiratory therapies and provide care as ordered for adult and geriatric patients.
- Administer aerosolized and oxygen therapies, manage ventilator support, and draw arterial blood gases per policy and physician orders.
- Perform pulmonary function testing (PFTs) including Spirometry, DLCO, Plethysmography, MIPS/MEPS, and Methacholine challenge using the Vyntus body box and Sentry Suite software.
- Maintain patient charts, EMR entries, flow sheets, and charge documentation; participate in department record-keeping and training of new staff.
- Collaborate with nursing and medical teams on treatment plans, monitor patient progress, and provide guidance on pulmonary care and equipment surveillance.
Requirements
- Education: Graduate of an approved Respiratory Therapy Program.
- Licenses/ Certifications: NBRC-RRT or NBRC-CRT credential; CPFT certification; Basic Life Support (BLS); Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) or ARC-NALS; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) or ARC-ALS; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or ARC-PALS; BLS from an approved vendor; AHA-NRP or ARC-NALS; AHA-ACLS or ARC-ALS; AHA-PALS or ARC-PALS.
- Experience: At least two years of recent experience in respiratory therapy.
- Additional: Must have a valid RRT license and CPFT certification; no on-call requirement; ability to perform PFTs and work in a short-term acute care setting.
