Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in the ED, including assessment, priorities, and interventions for patients across all ages.
- Perform primary and secondary assessments, monitor vital signs, and escalate changes in condition promptly.
- Administer medications and treatments per physician orders, and manage invasive and non-invasive procedures as appropriate.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to coordinate care, educate patients and families, and plan discharge or post-emergency care.
- Document care in the medical record, communicate clearly with patients and families, and maintain infection prevention and safety standards.
Requirements
- Active NYS Registered Nurse license
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (Stroke Certification (AHA or RQI) preferred)
- NIHSS certification or competency is preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the Emergency Department
- Ability to work in a fast-paced ED setting and provide patient-centered care
- Education aligned to RN scope of practice and entitlement to work in the United States
