Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care for adult and pediatric Med-Surg patients, including assessment, monitoring, and ongoing care planning
- Administer medications and IV therapies, perform wound care, and respond to clinical changes in real time
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, case managers, and allied health staff to implement individualized care plans
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation in the electronic health record; ensure medication administration accuracy and infection control compliance
- Communicate effectively with patients and families; provide education on diagnoses, treatments, and discharge planning
- Maintain unit operations including adherence to patient-to-nurse ratios (typical 4:1 non-COVID; 2:1 for COVID patients) and participate in staff meetings; may float to other departments as needed and assist with flu immunization clinics as assigned
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license; Arizona license preferred or ability to obtain licensure in Arizona
- Certifications: American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and PALS
- Experience: Minimum 3 years Med-Surg experience; at least 1 year pediatric experience
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts; flexible to cover weekends and holidays; ability to float to other departments as needed
- Strong communication and teamwork skills; capacity to participate in staff meetings and follow hospital/unit policies
