Responsibilities
- Deliver direct nursing care in the ED for adult and pediatric patients, including rapid assessment and triage.
- Monitor patient status, respond to changes, and implement treatment plans in collaboration with the care team.
- Administer medications, initiate and manage IV therapies and drips, and monitor responses.
- Perform EKGs and assist with rhythm interpretation; escalate abnormalities per protocol.
- Coordinate patient flow, discharge planning, and handoffs to oncoming staff; support crisis intervention as needed.
- Document care in EPIC accurately and promptly; adhere to hospital policies and safety standards.
Requirements
- Current New York RN license or proof of license application with applied date; license on file at submission; NY licensing may take 6–8 weeks.
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS; TNCC required (active or proof of class prior to start); NIHSS required prior to starting.
- Minimum 1 year of clinical experience; 1 year in the specialty area.
- EPIC experience within the past 2 years.
- Ability to work in a high-volume ED and adapt to fluctuating census and nurse-patient ratios.
