Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to ICU patients across units within the central pool, with float responsibilities to areas outside of the assigned pod as needed
- Establish and maintain IV access; start and manage multiple titrating drips (vasopressors/inotropes, analgesia, sedation) per unit protocols
- Monitor and manage ventilators and other critical care devices; assist with complex hemodynamic support and devices as trained (e.g., IABP, CRRT, ECMO where applicable)
- Perform ongoing patient assessments, interpret data, respond to changes in condition, and document in the electronic record
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, participate in rounds, and coordinate care for post-cardiac surgery, vascular, trauma, and overflow MICU patients
- Ensure patient safety, infection control, and adherence to AHA standards; float to SICU and Miller units as required
Requirements
- Active RN license appropriate for Vermont (or eligible to obtain per requirements)
- AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS required; NIHSS required prior to start
- CCRN preferred
- Minimum 2 years of ICU/CCU experience; experience in a large teaching facility preferred
- EPIC EMR experience within the past 2 years (nonnegotiable)
- Prior travel nursing experience is preferred; ability to float to SICU, Miller 3, and Miller 4; flexible scheduling
