Responsibilities
- Deliver respiratory care to neonatal through adult patients per physician orders, including ventilator management and weaning.
- Manage Puritan Bennett 980 & 840 ventilators and LTV1200 devices; perform ABG sampling and interpretation; administer therapies (bronchodilators, humidification, CPT) and monitor responses.
- Document patient care and ventilator parameters in EPIC; manage Pyxis medication dispensation as directed.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff; respond to changes in patient condition and participate in rapid response/trauma workflows as needed.
- Maintain equipment and infection control standards; ensure safe operation of all respiratory therapy devices; participate in unit rounds and patient education.
- Be flexible to support NICU/pediatric care when required and float to ER as patient care needs dictate.
Requirements
- Active New York license or proof of application with applied date (licensing takes weeks; please plan accordingly)
- Certification: ACLS, BLS, NRP
- Experience: 2–3 years of RT experience; demonstrated neonatal/pediatric exposure; EPIC experience within the past 2 years
- Specialty/credentialing: NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
- Ability to work in a hospital setting, with 12-hour night shifts and a rotating schedule
- Floating requirement: able to float to nursery and ER as needed
- Additional notes: NRP required or demonstrated neonatal/pediatric exposure; NY licensing considerations will affect start timing
