This travel assignment places an OR Tech in a multi-site surgical services environment. The role focuses on perioperative support across procedures requiring vascular and orthopedic skills, with circulating responsibilities in a fast-paced operating room workflow. The assignment includes weekend and on-call elements as described below, with compensation aligned to weekly pay rates.

- Float/coverage: Float to ASC as needed; on-call and weekend requirements apply
Responsibilities
- Circulate and scrub in as applicable; circulating duties required, scrub experience preferred
- Prepare the operating room and assist with case setup, instrumentation, and turnover between cases
- Assist anesthesia and perioperative team; manage patient transport when central transport is limited
- Provide basic intraoperative support, including IV starts and instrument handling; maintain sterile technique
- Support across specialties listed in the unit’s scope (orthopedics, vascular, general surgery, ENT, plastics, neuro); participate in robotic-assisted cases as appropriate
- Document perioperative activity in the patient record (EPIC); adhere to unit protocols and patient safety standards
- Collaborate with OR staff, Aides, scrub techs, surgical assistants, and RNs to maintain workflow and efficiency
- Follow unit rotation policies; orientation and ongoing competency checks as scheduled
Requirements
- Licensure: Active New York state licensure (NY lic) or eligibility
- Certifications: BLS required; Surgical Tech certification verification (NBSTSA) or equivalency
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of clinical OR experience; 2 years in the specialty area (vascular and orthopedic skills are a must)
- Skills: Strong circulating and instrument handling skills; solid knowledge of ortho, robotics, general surgery, ENT, plastics, and neuro cases
- Travel/float: Prior travel experience preferred; able to float to ASC as needed; weekend and on-call shifts as described
- Setting: Ability to work in a high-demand surgical environment with rotating shifts and EPIC-based documentation
- Transportation: Reliable transportation required; public transit not available in the area; vehicles should be equipped with all-season or snow tires in the months of November through April
