Responsibilities
- Provide NICU-level nursing care for neonatal patients in a home healthcare/hospice environment, including continuous monitoring, assessment, and rapid response to changes in condition.
- Administer medications and therapies per physician orders and established protocols; manage IV therapies and circulatory support as appropriate.
- Collaborate with an interprofessional team to develop and update individualized care plans; document patient progress accurately and timely.
- Educate and support families on newborn care, safety measures, feeding plans, and at-home care instructions; assist with discharge planning and bereavement resources as applicable.
- Ensure patient safety and infection control; adhere to applicable resuscitation, HLFS, NRP, and BLS/CPR guidelines; monitor respiratory status and oxygen needs; support nutritional goals.
- Maintain thorough, compliant documentation and effective communication with clinicians, case managers, and coordinators.
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice (California)
- Certifications: NRP required; CPR/BLS (or HS-BLS or RQIBLS) required; Hospital Fire and Life Safety (HLFS) required
- Ability to work in a home healthcare - hospice setting
- NICU nursing capability and neonatal care competencies as part of the role
