Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care for adult patients on a medical step-down unit, typically 16–20 beds, with a 1:4 patient-to-nurse ratio
- Monitor patient status, administer medications and IV therapies, perform ongoing assessments, and respond rapidly to deterioration in conditions such as sepsis, heart failure, hypertensive emergencies, and respiratory compromise
- Collaborate with physicians, charge nurses, pharmacists, and case management to implement care plans, initiate appropriate therapies, and coordinate transfers or discharges
- Manage equipment and lines (IV access, monitoring devices, drains as assigned), review lab results, and support therapeutic interventions and telemetry as needed
- Provide patient and family education, document care accurately in the electronic health record, and uphold safety and infection control practices
- Participate in shift handoffs, prioritize tasks to maintain high-quality care for a mixed acuity step-down population, and contribute to a positive team environment

Requirements
- Active RN license in Georgia or eligibility to obtain GA licensure
- ACLS and BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of recent nursing experience in a step-down, medical-surgical, or similarly capable unit
- Ability to work night shifts on a 2x4 schedule in a hospital setting with a 1:4 patient ratio
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills; ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
