Responsibilities
- Assess and administer prescribed respiratory therapies for adult and geriatric patients.
- Administer aerosol and oxygen therapy; monitor and document therapy per policy and orders.
- Provide care to ventilated patients, adjusting ventilator settings as directed and monitoring patient status.
- Draw arterial blood gases per policy and physician orders; document results in the electronic medical record and ensure accurate charges.
- Maintain patient charts and flow sheets; support department record keeping and participate in training of new staff as assigned.
- Contribute to overall patient care planning and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to optimize outcomes.
Requirements
- Licenses/Certifications: CA Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license; NBRC credential (RRT or CRT) required in CA; Basic Life Support (BLS) required; ACLS required; Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) preferred; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred; Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum two years of recent respiratory care experience; three years preferred.
- Other: Must have current Epic EMR experience; ability to work in an acute hospital setting with adult and geriatric patients; night shift availability.
