Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic MRI studies using MRI equipment, coils, and related devices; ensure accurate protocol and technique.
- Evaluate image quality, adjust positioning and coil selection, and document data in RIS and PACS per procedure guidelines.
- Adhere to infection control and universal precautions; maintain magnet safety for self, patients, and staff; conduct proper screening.
- Administer contrast media according to prescribed techniques; monitor patients for adverse reactions and respond to contrast-related emergencies.
- Provide care to pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients; support patient comfort and safety throughout imaging procedures.
- Collaborate with radiologists and the imaging team to ensure timely, accurate studies and efficient workflow.
Requirements
- NYS license to practice radiologic technology
- Certification as a radiologic, nuclear medicine or ultrasound technologist
- A.A.S. degree in Radiologic Technology (AMA-approved 2-year program)
- BLS certification (through AHA or RQI)
- 1-2 years of diagnostic radiology experience; MRI experience preferred; formal MRI-specific training preferred
- Ability to work in an MRI setting and in a hospital imaging department; strong attention to safety and patient care
