Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care for adult and older adult patients on a medical-surgical unit, with a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Monitor patient status, perform assessments, interpret vitals, and respond to changes with appropriate interventions
- Administer prescribed medications and therapies, including heparin drips and other acute medications, per orders
- Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary team, and ancillary staff to develop and implement care plans
- Ensure patient safety, assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges, and provide patient and family education
- Document care accurately, follow unit checklists, and maintain compliance with policy and regulatory standards
Requirements
- BLS and ACLS certifications
- Documented med-surg telemetry experience with adult and older adult populations
- Experience managing trauma patients and administering acute medications, including heparin drips
- Ability to work night shifts and 12-hour shifts in a high-acuity med-surg setting
- Demonstrated ability to use standard unit checklists and complete accurate patient documentation
