Travel Registered Nurse NICU Job
NICU RN (Level II) travel assignment in Olympia, Washington. This 13-week, hospital-based travel role starts on 06/02/2026 and is for a Level II NICU. Weekly pay ranges from $1,759 to $1,890, with no guaranteed hours. Shift schedule is 3x12 rotating (primarily days, with some night coverage). The unit serves neonates around 32 weeks and earlier stabilization/transport, with a typical census of about 6 patients across a 13-bed NICU.

Responsibilities
- Deliver Level II NICU nursing care for neonates around 32 weeks and older, including initial assessment, thermoregulation, line placement and ongoing monitoring.
- Manage IV starts/EPIVs, central line care, IV fluids and lipids; perform short-term intubation as needed; utilize CPAP/HFNC and coordinate with respiratory therapy.
- Support enteral feeding (bottle, breast, gavage); manage NG/OG tubes; provide phototherapy for hyperbilirubinemia.
- Monitor for NOWS/NAS, neonatal sepsis, and other common NICU presentations; respond to clinical changes with appropriate interventions.
- Document accurately in Epic; participate in daily rounds; collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (pharmacy, PT, social work, radiology); maintain 1:3 patient-to-nurse ratio.
- Orientation and float opportunities: may float to Postpartum for stable couplets (with 1–2 shift orientation if no couplet experience) and to Pediatrics for bili babies with applicable restrictions.
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in Washington state
- BLS and NRP certifications
- Minimum 2 years NICU experience; travel experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
- Epic charting experience
- Ability to work 3x12 rotating shifts (primarily days; some nights)
- Competence to float to Postpartum with couplet care or to Pediatrics for bili/failure-to-thrive cases per unit guidelines
