Responsibilities
- Perform pediatric and adult echocardiography, including transthoracic, transesophageal, 3D echo, bubble studies, and treadmill/pharmacologic stress echo as appropriate.
- Acquire high-quality images for both adult and pediatric patients (neonates to adolescents) and provide preliminary interpretation under physician supervision.
- Assist physicians with procedures requiring echocardiographic imaging and support intraoperative imaging when indicated.
- Operate GE ultrasound systems, manage image storage in PACS, and document studies in the Epic charting system.
- Prepare patients, explain procedures, monitor safety, and ensure infection control and equipment safety throughout the exam.
- Maintain daily workflow in a 4-room echo department with a typical daily census of 8–10 studies; participate in performance improvement initiatives and ensure timely study completion.
Requirements
- Certifications: BLS, RCS; RDMS-Peds (as listed in qualifications)
- Experience: Minimum 3 years preferred; pediatric echo and structural heart experience required
- Education: Not specified in notes
- Charting: Epic experience required
- Travel/Location: Must live at least 100 miles from the facility (100-mile radius rule)
- Competence: Ability to work in a hospital setting and collaborate with cardiology staff
