Responsibilities
- Perform polysomnography studies, including setup, data acquisition, staging, and scoring for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
- Operate polysomnographic equipment accurately; maintain calibration and data integrity
- Apply electrodes per the International 10-20 System or lab standards with appropriate impedance; identify and correct artifacts
- Accurately stage and score sleep studies (PSG, MSLT, MWT) per AASM guidelines; document findings and report timely
- Accurately fit and dispense CPAP/BiPAP devices; troubleshoot and perform minor equipment repairs; provide patient/family education on device use
- Administer oxygen and CPAP therapy as ordered; maintain safe procedures; ensure thorough charting and accurate documentation for billing
- Maintain a clean, safe environment; participate in orientation and training of new staff; assist with equipment maintenance and supply inventory
Requirements
- Education: Graduate of an accredited polysomnography program or respiratory therapy program
- Certifications: BRPT certification as Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or NBRC credential as Registered Respiratory Therapist with sleep specialty (RRT-SDS); Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- Experience: Not required; recent polysomnography experience preferred
- Licenses/registrations: As above; CRASE training may be required if travel extends beyond 6 months
- Physical requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; stand and walk for long periods; ability to interact with patients, families, and the healthcare team; use PPE as required; ability to work nights and adapt to a fast-paced environment
