Responsibilities
- Provide direct, patient-centered care on a high-acuity med-surg unit, including medical management for COPD, pneumonia, CHF, DKA, and diabetes with related complications
- Manage airway support needs (trachs, vents, BiPAP, high-flow) and monitor respiratory status in collaboration with the care team
- Administer medications, treatments, and therapies per protocol; monitor for adverse effects and respond to changes in patient condition
- Perform ongoing assessments, document findings in the electronic medical record, and communicate with physicians, case management, and ancillary staff
- Maintain patient safety and infection control standards; assist with patient transfers and discharges; may float to other units as needed within the assignment
Requirements
- Active NH or Compact RN license required at time of submission; Nursys license verification for all active RN licenses
- BLS required; NHISS verification needed prior to start; ACLS preferred
- 1–2 years minimum Med Surg experience; high-acuity exposure; comfortable with med-surg ratios (4–5 to sometimes 6) and care for patients requiring advanced respiratory support
- Telemetry capable; Cerner EMR experience preferred but not required
- RTO must be included at submission; valid driver’s license with address matching demographics; ability to travel within the assignment as needed
