Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to inmates in a corrections setting according to the plan of care.
- Monitor patient status, perform nursing assessments, take vital signs, and document changes in the electronic health record.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, observe for adverse effects, and report concerns promptly.
- Triage and respond to clinical needs, including routine wound care, dressings, and basic procedures within scope.
- Collaborate with RNs, physicians, and custody staff to coordinate care while maintaining safety, security, and patient privacy.
- Ensure infection control practices, safe medication handling, and compliance with facility policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Ability to work evening and night shifts in a fast-paced corrections environment.
- Strong clinical documentation and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to follow nursing care plans, policies, and procedures with an emphasis on patient safety and confidentiality.
