Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive speech-language pathology evaluations and provide diagnosis and treatment for residents with speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders as appropriate to the setting.
- Develop individualized treatment plans with measurable goals, document progress notes, and adjust plans based on resident response and interdisciplinary team input.
- Administer bedside and charted assessments; implement evidence-based therapy techniques; monitor progress and adjust interventions as needed.
- Collaborate with nursing, therapy, physicians, and social work to support care planning, discharge planning, and transitions within the continuum of care.
- Maintain accurate documentation in the medical record, ensure regulatory and facility policy compliance, and support appropriate billing and coding activities.
- Educate residents, families, and caregivers as appropriate and participate in group therapy or caregiver training when indicated.
Requirements
- Active state license to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology (or equivalent)
- Eligibility for ASHA certification or current ASHA certification preferred
- Prior experience in acute care or skilled nursing facility/settings preferred
- Ability to work in a long-term care environment and meet guaranteed hours
- Legal ability to work in the United States and willingness to travel for the assignment
