Responsibilities
- Scrub, pass, and maintain instruments and supplies for a broad mix of surgeries, ensuring sterile technique and proper counts.
- Prepare the OR, position patients, and assist throughout procedures across specialties including orthopedics, general surgery, plastics, urology, cardiac, neuro, vascular, ophthalmic, GYN, ENT, thoracic, oral-maxillofacial, and trauma.
- Assist in robotic-assisted cases as directed, supporting Da Vinci system workflows and team coordination.
- Support transplant-related cases when assigned, including livers, kidneys, and hearts, and collaborate with the surgical team to maintain patient safety and efficiency.
- Manage equipment turnover, specimen handling, and communication with anesthesia and circulating staff to maintain a smooth workflow.
- Adapt to rotating shifts and participate in a fast-paced, high-acuity level 1 trauma center environment as needed.
Requirements
- NBSTSA certification or 10 years of experience as a Surgical Technician
- Minimum 2 years of operating room experience
- BLS certification (American Heart Association)
- Able to scrub and support a wide range of surgical specialties
- Operating room experience in a level 1 trauma setting highly desired
- Ability to work in a hospital OR setting with rotating day/evening/night shifts
