Responsibilities
- Prepare the surgical field, maintain sterile technique, and assist the surgical team during procedures
- Set up and handle intraoperative instruments, supplies, and equipment; ensure proper instrument counts with the circulating nurse
- Assist with patient positioning, gowning, and gloving for sterile procedures
- Anticipate needs of the team to promote efficiency and safety; handle specimen labeling and transport as required
- Maintain infection control standards and patient safety throughout the perioperative process
- Document relevant perioperative information and support computer systems as needed

Requirements
- Current documentation of certification to practice surgical technology in Oregon
- One of the following pathways:
- Successful completion of a training program for surgical technologists in a branch of the armed forces or in the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, plus 16 hours of continuing education every two years relevant to medical-surgical practice
- Completion of a surgical technology program accredited by CAAHEP or ABHES; NBSTSA certification or completion of CAAHEP/ABHES program within the past 12 months
- At least two years of surgical technology practice between 2014 and 2017 in a hospital, ambulatory surgical center, or federal employment, plus 16 hours of continuing education every two years
- Healthcare Provider BLS required
- Experience or training in computer applications preferred
- Ability to work in a perioperative environment with a rotating schedule
