Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care for neuro-focused patients in the PCU, including frequent neurological assessments and NIHSS where applicable.
- Administer medications, manage IV access, and monitor patient status according to physician orders and care plans.
- Recognize changes in patient condition and escalate promptly to the appropriate team; collaborate with neurology, critical care, and multidisciplinary staff.
- Document care in the designated electronic health record (EPIC) with accurate, timely charting; ensure NIHSS data is recorded per protocol.
- Support discharge planning and patient/family education, addressing questions about care plans, medications, and follow-up needs.
- Maintain safety, infection control, and high-quality standards; manage equipment and supply needs for neuro/step-down patients.

Requirements
- Active registered nurse license in Georgia with Nursys license verification.
- NIHSS documentation in CV packet; NIHSS competency is required to be considered.
- Neuro step-down experience required; minimum 2 years of experience in the specialty (neuro/step-down or closely related PCU/critical care settings).
- EPIC experience required; please note EPIC proficiency on profile.
- ACLS certification is preferred but not required; strong consideration for candidates with NIHSS, ACLS, and some step-down experience.
- No block scheduling; weekends required as part of the assignment.
- Submission must include: work history/resume with no gaps greater than 60 days, skills checklist, references, certification card, and Nursys license verification.
