Travel Registered Nurse Med Surg Job
Registered Nurse – Med Surg Step Down in Rome, NY. Start date 05/11/2026 for 13 weeks. Weekly pay $1,882–$1,975 per week. Guaranteed hours: not guaranteed. Shift: Three 12-hour day shifts per week (07:00–19:30). This travel assignment is in a hospital setting.

- Orientation CEU: 8 hours of CEUs required as part of facility orientation
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for Med Surg Step Down patients, including telemetry monitoring and post-operative recovery support
- Conduct ongoing assessments, document vital signs and clinical changes, and administer medications and IV therapies, including cardiac drips per protocol
- Read and interpret ECG strips, respond to telemetry alerts, and escalate to the physician as indicated
- Perform wound care and dressing changes; manage drains and support infection prevention and wound healing
- Float to Medical-Surgical units as needed; ensure accurate handoffs, patient safety, and thorough documentation in the electronic record
- Educate patients and families on condition, care plans, and discharge needs; coordinate transitions and care planning
Requirements
- Active New York State Registered Nurse license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- NIH Stroke Certification required before start
- Minimum 2 years of current Med Surg/Step Down RN experience
- Travel experience preferred; ability to float to MS; willingness to work every other weekend/holiday
