Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive speech-language pathology assessments and periodic re-evaluations for assigned patients within the corrections setting.
- Develop, implement, and adjust individualized treatment plans addressing communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing needs.
- Provide direct therapy services and document patient progress in the chart, ensuring accurate and timely records.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team (nursing, medical staff, rehabilitation professionals) to support overall patient care and discharge planning.
- Monitor safety, infection control, and facility policies; ensure compliance with applicable regulations and professional standards.
- Communicate findings clearly to supervisors, care teams, and when appropriate, patient and family or guardian, while maintaining patient privacy.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
- Current licensure to practice Speech-Language Pathology in North Carolina or eligibility to obtain licensure.
- Experience in acute care settings is preferred; experience in corrections-related healthcare is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively in a corrections setting and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong documentation skills and commitment to professional standards and patient safety.
