Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for a high-acuity med-surg/trauma population, including surgical patients, gunshot wounds, and spinal injuries
- Monitor patient conditions, administer medications, perform assessments, wound care, and preventive therapies
- Collaborate with ED and admitting teams to coordinate handoffs and transitions of care
- Document thoroughly in the EPIC electronic medical record and ensure accurate and timely charting
- Support unit operations at night, including coordination with phlebotomists, nursing support techs, and a night shift unit secretary to maintain patient flow and safety
- Maintain a nurse-to-patient ratio around 5:1, uphold patient safety and infection prevention, and participate in handoffs and discharge planning as needed
Requirements
- Current RN license in Georgia (in good standing)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a high-acuity med-surg, surgical trauma, or equivalent specialty unit
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Ability to work night shifts on a 2x3 schedule and commit to assigned shifts (no block scheduling)
- Willingness to work a 13-week travel assignment and meet the unit’s staffing needs
