Responsibilities
- Provide skilled RN care on a stepdown unit handling IMCU, neuro, and medsurgical patients with complex medical needs
- Monitor telemetry, interpret rhythm strips, and respond to arrhythmias; perform telemetry assessments on admission
- Administer medications via auto-dispensing system; ensure accurate dosing, documentation, and safety checks
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to develop and modify care plans; support discharge planning and patient education
- Manage high-acuity patients, including those with chronic vents, trachs, neuro complications, and cardiology cases; maintain patient safety and adherence to protocols
- Document thoroughly in the electronic health record; participate in unit rounds and on-call requirements as assigned
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year IMCU experience plus 2+ years of recent medsurg and telemetry experience; neuro care, myocardial infarctions, and trachs required
- Ability to independently read and interpret telemetry rhythm strips; telemetry test on day 1
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Current RN license in Massachusetts (active/in good standing) or eligible to practice in the state
- Auto med dispensing experience; able to work 12-hour shifts with weekend/holiday coverage as needed
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Active RN license in the practice state
