Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to adult and older adult patients on a 32-bed med/surg unit, ensuring safety, comfort, and quality outcomes.
- Monitor patients with trauma needs, administer heparin drips and other acute medications as ordered, and perform routine nursing procedures per plan of care.
- Assess, document, and respond to changes in patient status; escalate to the care team as needed and participate in timely rounds with the interdisciplinary team.
- Administer medications and perform ancillary tasks (IV therapy, wound care, Foley care, and basic procedures) following unit policies.
- Utilize available specialty equipment (gait belts, geriatric chairs, PT equipment) as part of rehabilitation and mobility strategies.
- Document care in the unit’s electronic medical record system per policy (note: the assignment uses a non-EPIC EMR), maintain accurate charts, and support regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other health professionals to support care continuity and patient education, including discharge planning.

Requirements
- BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
- Documented med/surg/telemetry experience is required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with adult and older adult patients on a 32-bed unit and a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio.
- Willingness to follow unit policies, participate in trauma-related care as needed, and use available specialty equipment.
- Availability to work the stated shift pattern and meet guaranteed hours.
