Registered Nurse, Acute Care – Travel assignment in Geneva, New York. Responsibilities
- Circulate in the OR for multiple service lines including orthopedics (total joints, ortho trauma, sports medicine), general surgery, urology, ENT, GI, spine, ophthalmology, and podiatry.
- Maintain sterile field, manage instrumentation and equipment, perform counts, and support the surgical team throughout procedures.
- Monitor patient status intraoperatively, communicate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and scrub personnel, and document intraoperative events.
- Assist with positioning, gauze, draping, specimen handling, and immediate post-procedure turnover while maintaining patient safety and infection control standards.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure effective care delivery and patient comfort; provide appropriate patient/family education as it relates to the perioperative period.
- On-call responsibilities may apply; in some cases, may be the sole OR RN on site during assigned periods requiring independent clinical judgment.
Requirements
- Current New York State RN license (active)
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required (through AHA or RQI)
- OR circulator experience with a minimum of 2 years in the operating room
- Ability to work across diverse service lines and adapt to varying surgical cases
- Willingness to participate in a 4x9-day shift schedule and travel assignment
