Travel Registered Nurse PACU Job
Registered Nurse – Perioperative/PACU (Phase I & Phase II recovery) in Rochester, New York, starting 07/20/2026 for a travel assignment of several weeks. Weekly pay ranges from $1,970 to $2,045 per week. There are no guaranteed hours. The role is in a short-term acute care teaching hospital setting with a 27-bed PACU unit, operating on a block scheduling model. The assignment includes on-call requirements: 2 weekend shifts and 2 weeknights per month.

Responsibilities
- Provide Phase I & Phase II PACU nursing care following anesthesia for general surgery, orthopedics (including spine and total joints), and endoscopy cases; support MAC and PCA pump management.
- Monitor airway, respiratory status, hemodynamics, pain control, and perform_basic post-anesthesia assessments; manage phlebotomy and IV starts as required; perform 12-lead EKG as needed.
- Document thoroughly in EPIC; maintain patient safety with standard post-anesthesia care protocols; communicate changes in patient condition to the multidisciplinary team.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary support services (IV team, PT, Respiratory, Radiology, Pharmacy, Social Services, Rapid Response, Unit Secretary, Transport, Interpretation services) to coordinate care.
- Work within unit patient ratios (typical 3:1) and float to other units as needed; participate in a 16-hour orientation prior to full duties.
- On-call responsibilities: weeknights and weekends (2 weekend shifts and 2 weeknights per month) as required by unit policy.
Requirements
- NY RN license in hand to submit
- Minimum 1 year RN experience
- ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications
- EPIC charting experience required
- Core PACU competencies: Phase I & Phase II PACU care, Endo/Laparoscopic and General surgery post-op care, Orthopedics (including spine and total joints), MAC/PCA pump management
- Phlebotomy and IV starts competency mandatory
- Basic airway assessment and 12-lead EKG; pediatric PACU experience noted among acceptable skills
- Ability to float to other units as needed; local candidates within 75 miles not accepted
- RTO: Cannot submit candidates with more than 10 days of requested time off
