Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a Med Surg unit in accordance with nursing practice standards, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
- Administer medications, monitor vital signs, manage IV therapy, perform wound care, and respond to clinical changes with appropriate nursing actions.
- Implement isolation precautions as required (COVID, Monkey Pox, and other isolations); adhere to PPE protocols and safety guidelines.
- Document patient care accurately in the electronic health record (EPIC) and maintain up-to-date care plans; communicate with the health care team during handoffs.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and support staff to coordinate patient care and discharge planning; provide patient and family education.
- Maintain patient safety and respond to emergencies or rapidly changing conditions; participate in rounds and contribute to quality and safety initiatives.
- RTO (time-off) requests are not accommodated for this assignment; ensure EPIC use and profile notes are up to date.
Requirements
- Active registered nurse license with Nursys verification (current to practice).
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg nursing experience.
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record; ability to document thoroughly and efficiently.
- Experience caring for patients requiring isolation precautions (COVID, Monkey Pox, and others) is preferred.
- Med Surg RN specialty: 12B Medical, with strong clinical assessment and patient communication skills.
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and participate in a travel assignment; must be able to work in a hospital setting.
- Candidate profile must include: work history/resume with no gaps greater than 60 days, skills checklist, references, certification card, Nursys license verification; load all demographic information into the profile, including badge-appropriate photo.
