Responsibilities
- Deliver coordinated NICU nursing care for a patient or assigned group of patients according to established standards of care and the nursing process.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for NICU patients; adjust plans as needed in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
- Supervise and direct activities of various levels of nursing staff; coordinate care with physicians, therapists, and other disciplines.
- Administer medications and therapies, monitor patient responses, and document outcomes per unit protocol.
- Monitor neonatal status, operate and troubleshoot NICU equipment, and provide safe infant respiratory support as ordered.
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of assessments, interventions, and patient progress; uphold infection control and patient safety standards.
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in California
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program (RN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) recommended
- NICU experience preferred; willingness to orient and work in the NICU setting
- Ability to work nights and 12-hour shifts; strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills
- Effective communication and teamwork in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
