Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to adult, adolescent, and geriatric patients with medical conditions, including oncology patients, in a medical-surgical/oncology care setting.
- Assess patient and family needs; develop and adjust an individualized plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team; monitor progress and adapt to changing conditions.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed; monitor for adverse effects; ensure safe administration and documentation consistent with policies.
- Educate patients and families about treatment plans, self-care, discharge planning, medication management, and follow-up needs.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other clinicians; participate in rounds; contribute to goal setting and care coordination.
- Maintain infection prevention practices and a healing environment; participate in quality improvement activities and ongoing professional development.
Requirements
- Current New York State Registered Nurse license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association
- NIHSS certification
- Minimum two years’ RN experience in a Med/Surg environment
- Ability to work 3x12-hour rotating shifts in a short-term acute care setting
- Willingness to participate in a 26-week travel contract with on-call shifts as described
