Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive ultrasound examinations across multiple areas: Abdomen (Aorta, IVC, Liver/Biliary, Pancreas, Spleen, Renal; evaluate both normal and pathology), GYN (breast, ovaries, adnexa, uterus, pelvis; assess pathology and normal findings; post-menopausal, transvaginal, adult and pediatric), OB (1st–3rd trimester, amniocentesis, complications, biophysical profile, gestational age, placental grading, abnormalities, IGUR, uterus/adnexa), Neonatal (congenital anomalies, neonatal head), superficial structures (abdominal wall, breast, focal masses, hematoma, scrotum/testes, thyroid), and Vascular (carotid duplex, segmental pressures, upper and lower extremity venous and arterial duplex).
- Perform procedures including aspirations, biopsies, drainage, and intraoperative ultrasound as required.
- Operate unit equipment and systems: Canon i700; Meditech EMR; Fuji Synapse PACS; document findings in the EMR with accurate image capture and labeling.
- Maintain image quality, patient safety, sterile technique, and infection control; follow departmental protocols.
- Float to other units/departments as needed; adapt to schedule and patient care needs.
- Communicate findings and collaborate with radiologists and physicians; provide preliminary readings per policy.
Requirements
- ARDMS certification: AB, OB, and RVT
- Active BLS certification (AHA)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a sonographer in an acute hospital setting; one contract or more preferred
- Ability to work in a hospital setting with the capacity to float to other units as needed
- Proficiency with ultrasound equipment and PACS/MEMR workflows
- Must arrive the Thursday before start for employee health clearance; comply with onboarding timelines
