Responsibilities
- Conduct intake assessments through interviews with adolescent patients and relatives to gather case history.
- Plan and provide nursing care; assess medical and emotional status and participate in designing treatment plans with psychiatrists and the behavioral health team.
- Administer psychotropic medications and other treatments; document reactions and responses.
- Maintain a safe, secure environment for patients and staff; support de-escalation and crisis intervention as needed.
- Monitor vital signs and assess pain; ensure appropriate treatment and document all findings in the medical record.
- Coordinate care with a multidisciplinary team; educate patients and families about conditions and treatments; complete progress notes and administrative tasks in the electronic record.
Requirements
- Active New York RN license
- BLS Certification (AHA)
- Minimum 2 years nursing experience
- Telemetry experience is a plus
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts and participate in weekend blocks, holidays/on-call/callback as needed
- Ability to work in an inpatient behavioral health setting and manage safety considerations
