Travel Psychiatric Technician Job
Psychiatric Technician needed for a travel assignment in Rochester, New York. Specialty: Psychiatric Technician. Start date: 04/27/2026. Duration: 13 weeks. Weekly pay: $830-$867 per week. Responsibilities
- Provide direct, one-on-one and group care to inpatient psychiatric patients under RN supervision; assist with activities of daily living, social and psychiatric rehabilitation as directed; help patients access required services and communicate changes to the RN.
- Maintain safety and therapeutic milieu; respond to agitation or crisis and apply de-escalation techniques as appropriate.
- Participate in rounds and group therapy as needed; document patient observations and progress in accordance with unit protocol.
- Support discharge planning and care coordination; connect patients with needed services and resources for transition.
- When assigned to the Main ED, deliver 1:1 direct care for patients per unit needs under RN supervision; monitor patient status and report changes promptly.
- Adhere to shift scheduling, including holidays and weekends; be available for on-call and callback per unit needs.
Requirements
- 2 years of recent experience in a psychiatric care setting
- BLS from the American Heart Association
- Associate degree (AAS) in Psychology or Sociology
- Ability to work in an inpatient psychiatric environment within a hospital setting
