Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care to adult medical-surgical patients, including orthopedic cases, on the inpatient unit.
- Monitor patient status, administer medications, manage IV therapies, and perform wound care with appropriate aseptic technique.
- Conduct routine assessments, neurovascular checks, pain management, mobility assistance, and post-operative care as indicated.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and case management; document findings and care plans accurately in the electronic health record; communicate handoffs at shift change.
- Monitor for changes in patient condition, respond promptly to alarms, and ensure evidence-based practices for safety, infection control, and falls prevention.
- Educate patients and families about post-discharge care, expected recovery, and instructions to support safe transitions.
Requirements
- Active registered nurse license in Georgia
- BLS and NIH Certification required; ACLS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of recent Med Surg experience, orthopedic exposure preferred
- Education: Diploma, Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts in an inpatient hospital setting
- This is a travel assignment; no local candidates within 50 miles
