Responsibilities
- Act as the scrub tech for operating room procedures, preparing and handling instruments, supplies, and equipment; maintain a sterile field and anticipate the needs of the surgeon.
- Work under the supervision of a registered nurse and collaborate with the multidisciplinary surgical team to support quality patient care during procedures.
- Scrub for orthopedic and vascular cases as needed, including participation in after-hours on-call coverage for urgent or emergent surgeries.
- Assist with instrument counts, instrument setup and breakdown, tissue handling, and ensuring availability of necessary supplies and equipment throughout the procedure.
- Communicate clearly with the surgical team, assist with positioning and draping as appropriate, and support safe patient care from prep to close.
Requirements
- Certification: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required.
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of OR experience; orthopedics required; vascular experience strongly preferred.
- Education: Completion of an accredited surgical technology program.
- Ability to work in an operating room environment and participate in an on-call schedule as needed.
- Location readiness: Must be able to work in Saranac Lake, NY.
