Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and deliver nursing care on the medical/surgical unit, addressing adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
- Perform routine and complex nursing tasks, including medication administration, IV therapy (including blood products), and care of indwelling catheters and drains.
- Operate and monitor standard medical equipment (glucose meters, IV pumps, PCA machines) and ensure patient safety during all interventions.
- Initiate and contribute to multidisciplinary, goal-oriented care plans in collaboration with the health care team.
- Provide patient and family education tailored to age, condition, culture, and learning readiness.
- Supervise and delegate appropriate tasks to ancillary staff, including CNAs, within scope of practice; ensure continuity of care.
Requirements
- Active RN license in the state of practice (California)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor
- Associate Degree in Nursing (A.S.) or equivalent required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred
- Minimum two years of recent medical-surgical nursing experience
- Epic EMR experience required
- Ability to work in a medical-surgical setting with diverse patient populations (adolescent, adult, geriatric)
- Demonstrated competence in patient assessment, vital signs, and patient education
