Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for adults on a high-acuity med-surg unit, including spinal neuro trauma surgical cases, gunshot injuries, and quadriplegic/paraplegic patients
- Assess, monitor, and document patient status; respond to changes in condition; administer medications and coordinate perioperative and postoperative care
- Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, case management, and ancillary teams to develop and implement care plans
- Utilize EPIC for accurate and timely charting, orders, and handoffs; ensure documentation meets unit and regulatory standards
- Maintain patient safety and comfort, manage neuro exams, pain control, wound care, drains, lines, and tubes as appropriate
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and discharge planning; provide patient and family education
Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse license in Georgia
- Graduation from an approved nursing program (ASN/ADN or BSN)
- BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience in med-surg or a high-acuity surgical/trauma specialty
- Proficient in EPIC or comparable electronic health record systems
- Ability to work night shifts in an inpatient, high-acuity setting
- Must be willing to work assigned shifts; no time-off requests during the assignment
