Travel Registered Nurse Med Surg Job
Registered Nurse – Med Surg (Travel) in Hilo, Hawaii. Start August 3, 2026 for a 13-week assignment. Weekly pay ranges from $2,433 to $2,550. Shift is 5x8 Days, with Monday–Friday daytime hours (7:30 AM–4:00 PM). Works in a hospital setting with responsibility for chemotherapy and complex IV therapies, port access, IV care, and related patient education. Proficiency in Epic EMR is required.

Responsibilities
- Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapies, and injections as ordered by the provider, including hormonal and non-chemo therapies.
- Access port-a-caths, PICCs, and Hickman catheters; perform venipuncture and dressing changes; obtain labs via ports and catheters.
- Deliver appropriate clinical care, document patient status, treatments, medications, and responses with accuracy and clarity in the medical record.
- Monitor all IV therapies and patient responses; notify the Medical Oncologist or Nurse Practitioner of unusual events and initiate emergency actions when needed.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers about medications, treatment expectations, potential side effects, disease process, nutrition, activity, and adjustments related to treatment.
- Verify informed consent prior to administering chemotherapy; maintain safe handling, disposal of hazardous drugs, and proper PPE usage; ensure a safe environment and compliance with policies; proficiently use Epic EMR.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Active registered nurse (RN) license to practice in the United States.
- Experience with chemotherapy administration and hazardous drug handling familiarity (PPE protocols).
- Proficiency with Epic EMR.
- Ability to work in a hospital setting with day shift hours listed above.
- Capable of fulfilling pre-employment health requirements, including arrival the Thursday before start.
- Basic competency in venipuncture, IV therapy, and port access; strong patient education skills.
- Education: RN degree from an accredited program (standard requirement for this role).
