Travel Registered Nurse ER Job
Registered Nurse – Emergency Department (ER) travel assignment in Bakersfield, CA. The position starts 08/03/2026 and runs for 8 weeks in a hospital setting. Responsibilities
- Deliver direct nursing care to ER patients using established standards, the nursing process, and critical thinking.
- Perform rapid assessments, monitor patient status, administer medications and treatments per physician orders, and document in the EHR with accuracy.
- Triage incoming patients, prioritize care, and respond to changes in clinical condition with appropriate escalation.
- Coordinate care with physicians, mid-level providers, nurses of other levels, and ancillary staff; supervise and direct activities when needed.
- Maintain patient safety through adherence to protocols, monitoring for adverse events, and implementing interventions as required.
- Communicate clearly with patients and families about care plans, procedures, discharge instructions, and follow-up needs; participate in discharge planning and care transitions.
Requirements
- Active California Registered Nurse license
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- ER nursing experience preferred
- Ability to work nights and 12-hour shifts in a high-acuity environment
- Competence with electronic health records and documentation
- Effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and supportive supervision of assigned staff when applicable
