Responsibilities
- Deliver coordinated nursing care for outpatient oncology patients using established standards and the nursing process
- Collect and analyze clinical data; develop and implement a care plan; monitor outcomes and adjust as needed
- Administer prescribed therapies and medications; monitor responses; document in the electronic health record
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses of other disciplines, and support staff; participate in discharge planning and continuity of care
- Prepare patients, rooms, and equipment for procedures; assist physicians with minor procedures; ensure equipment readiness and sterility
- Provide patient and family education, reinforce treatment plans, and support safety and quality initiatives
Requirements
- Current RN license in the state of practice (California)
- BSN preferred
- 2–3 years of recent nursing experience in outpatient/clinical settings, oncology preferred
- Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) certification required
- BLS certification from an approved vendor required
- EPIC or similar electronic health record experience required
- Ability to work in an outpatient clinic setting with rotating day shifts and ability to adapt to a busy oncology workflow
