Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive obstetric nursing care during night shifts, including monitoring laboring patients and post-delivery recovery.
- Monitor maternal and fetal status, administer medications, and perform focused nursing assessments.
- Take over recovery in Labor and Delivery and assist with cesarean deliveries, including catching the baby when needed.
- Collaborate with obstetric, anesthesia, and support teams to ensure patient safety and timely interventions.
- Document care in the medical records, track progress, and communicate changes to the care team.
- Support triage, admissions, and discharge planning as appropriate for obstetric patients.
Requirements
- Active registered nurse license in California
- BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required
- Ability to work night shifts (1900–0730) and cover a 3x12 schedule
- Must be able to take over recovery in Labor and Delivery and assist with cesarean sections
- Experience or demonstrated capability in OB/GYN or labor and delivery settings is preferred, with the ability to function in a fast-paced short-term acute care environment
