Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for adult and adolescent patients in a busy ED, with potential float to related areas such as Psych ED and Pediatric ED (age 15+), based on department needs
- Perform initial triage, comprehensive assessments, and ongoing patient monitoring, including telemetry
- Interpret telemetry rhythm strips and identify heart blocks; pass a Telemetry Test on Day 1 (85% threshold)
- Administer medications, manage IVs, initiate emergency protocols, and assist with ED procedures as needed
- Document care in the electronic medical record and communicate clearly with the patient care team to ensure safe, efficient flow and safe discharges or admissions
- Collaborate with physicians, APs, and other ED staff to optimize patient throughput and maintain patient safety and quality of care
- Understand department workflow in a very busy ED and adhere to unit policies, including patient ratios (approximately 1:4–1:5 depending on acuity)
Requirements
- Minimum of 1.5 years of recent Level I or II ED experience and/or 2+ years of recent Level 3/4 ED experience
- Ability to independently read and interpret telemetry rhythm strips; identify heart blocks; pass Telemetry Test on Day 1 (85% or higher)
- Active BLS, ACLS, TNCC, and PALS certifications (active/unexpired)
- Experience with Epic (EPIC) or willingness to learn; previous travel assignment experience preferred
- Floating ability to related ED areas (e.g., Psych ED and Pedi ED for patients aged 15+); flexibility to work nights and 2 weekends per 4-week schedule and E/O holidays
- Assignment availability through 1/9/2027; readiness to commit to the 13-week duration
