Responsibilities
- Under the supervision of licensed physical therapists, provide PT aide-level interventions including exercise programs, massage, gait and balance training, and related therapeutic activities.
- Document patient progress and communicate results to the supervising physical therapist to inform ongoing treatment planning.
- Assist with patient positioning, transfers, ROM, strengthening activities, and gait training to support mobility and safety.
- Monitor patients for response to therapy, report changes to the physical therapist, and ensure adherence to the treatment plan.
- Maintain safety practices, infection control, and patient privacy while delivering care in a long-term care setting.
- Collaborate with the care team to implement the established plan of care and adjust as directed by the supervising therapist.
Requirements
- Active PTA license in Texas or a compact license (or eligibility for licensure in Texas)
- Minimum 2 years PTA experience
- Strong documentation and communication skills for progress reporting to the supervising PT
- Ability to work 40 hours per week in a dayshift, on-site in a long-term care setting
- Demonstrated ability to follow a prescribed plan of care and coordinate with the physical therapy team
