Responsibilities
- Deliver direct ICU nursing care to adult and geriatric patients, including monitoring hemodynamics, ventilated support, and complex therapies as ordered.
- Perform frequent patient assessments, interpret data, and contribute to timely care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
- Administer medications and infusions, monitor for adverse effects, and respond to emergencies per ACLS protocols; document care in the electronic medical record.
- Manage ICU devices and lines (e.g., arterial lines, IV infusions, monitoring equipment) and ensure patient safety, infection control, and continuity of care.
- Communicate clearly with patients, families, and team members; uphold confidentiality and provide care consistent with age-specific needs across the adult, geriatric, and, when applicable, adolescent populations.
Requirements
- Active NYS registered professional nurse license
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required through the RQI system during clinical orientation
- NIHSS certification on file or demonstrated competency
- Basic Coronary Care training within 6 months of hire
- CPI certification within 90 days of hire
- TNCC is recommended within 2 years of hire
- Ability to work in a high-acuity ICU environment and to rotate shifts, with flexibility for variable scheduling and 7a–7p/7p–7a coverage as needed
