Responsibilities
- Provide professional nursing care to patients across the age spectrum within the Med Surg unit.
- Assess patient needs and concerns; perform ongoing data collection across physiologic, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and cognitive domains, including nutrition, pain, education, and advocacy.
- Develop and update a goal-directed plan of care, involving patient, family, and designee in planning; educate on the plan of care.
- Document succinct, legible notes and maintain complete electronic medical records; communicate changes in condition and treatment to the care team.
- Coordinate with the health care team, delegate tasks appropriately, and participate in orientation/training of staff; ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulatory standards.
- Contribute to quality care and, as needed, participate in nursing research activities; uphold professional standards and patient advocacy.
Requirements
- Active California Registered Nurse license.
- Education: Nursing degree (ADN or BSN) required.
- Experience: Med Surg or hospital-nursing experience preferred; ability to apply assessment findings to care planning in a fast-paced unit.
- Certifications: BLS certification (or as required by policy); vaccinations in accordance with organizational policy; exemptions considered per policy.
- Skills: Proficient in documentation, EMR navigation, and effective communication with patients, families, and the care team.
- Work eligibility: Must meet vaccination requirements and be eligible to work in the U.S.; this assignment participates in e-Verify.
