Travel Registered Nurse ICU Job
SMH Level 2 RN ICU Stepdown (536) — ICU Stepdown specialty in Rochester, NY. Start date: 04/13/2026. Duration: 13 weeks. Weekly pay: $2,077-$2,190 per week. Shift: 12-hour shifts on a rotating D/E/N schedule with weekends, holidays, on-call and callback as needed. Setting: high-acuity Level II step-down/ICU care within a hospital-like acute care environment.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct, patient-centered care to high-acuity step-down/ICU patients, including stroke and neurosurgery cases, in a telemetry-enabled, critical care environment
- Perform Q1 neuro checks and manage neurosurgical devices and drains (EVDs, lumbar drains, sub-dural drains) with appropriate monitoring and intervention
- Monitor and adjust arterial lines and vasoactive/vascular access devices (e.g., Cardene/Nicardipine drips), maintain strict infection control and sterile technique
- Administer medications and fluids per policy, including 3% NS as ordered, and respond rapidly to changes in patient status
- Collaborate with the care team, including charge nurse, preceptors, and committee members as assigned; participate in rounds and care planning
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately; ensure handoffs are thorough and timely
- Maintain telemetry monitoring, seizure precautions, and neurovascular assessments; uphold patient safety and quality standards
Requirements
- Active New York RN license
- BLS certification (American Heart Association required)
- Telemetry experience required
- Stepdown/PCU experience required (minimum 2 years)
- High-acuity stroke and neurosurgery experience required; familiarity with neuro devices and postsurgical care
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity step-down/ICU environment with rotating shifts
- ACLS and NIHSS are preferred but not required
